Drywall Sheetrock Information:
Drywall Sheetrock is known as gypsum board, Plasterboard, GWB, Wallboard, Sheetrock, ToughRock and Gyprock, and is a cheap building material made up of gypsum formed into a flat sheet and sandwiched between two pieces of heavy paper. It i s commonly used for interior walls and ceilings.
Drywall Sheetrock is fire-resistant & water-proof because gypsum contains water, and when it is exposed to heat or flame, this water is released as steam, retarding heat transfer. A special fire-rated (Type X) drywall supply is formulated by adding noncombustible fibers to the gypsum, making it even more fire-resistant. Fire resistance is the primary advantage of drywall sheetrock.
Before covering up your walls with drywall sheetrock, you will need to get an inspection done on your mechanical work and insulation. This is necessary to make sure your work is complying with all building codes.
Climate conditions can be a factor in your drywall sheetrock job. Temperature and humidity can affect the performance of the joint treatment materials. Your house temperature should be maintained at a minimum 55 degrees for 48 hours before and 48 hours after the completion of the drywalling. And in humid areas, ventilation should be provided.
The delivery of drywall sheetrock panels should coincide with the installation schedule. In new construction, drywall sheetrock is not applied until after the windows and exterior doors have been installed. |
